Sediment reuse and composting

Sediment reuse and composting

Sludge is not waste. A properly surveyed lake sediment is 70–90% reusable — for bank protection, dyke raising, garden fill, compost or agricultural nutrient. Only the residue is handled as waste, and when it is, we prepare the transport and disposal documentation too.

In a climate context this is one of our most important services: circular economy applied to water treatment. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium — agricultural nutrients increasingly needed by drying soils. Dredged sludge is typically 70–90% reusable, cutting fertiliser dependency and the project’s waste-handling cost.

What we do

  • Sludge analysis to decide on the reuse pathway
  • On-site reuse in bank protection or dyke raising
  • Setting up a composting basin where needed
  • Transport to agricultural land with full documentation
  • Anaerobic digestion as an option
  • For the residue only: waste-handling pathway and documentation

Typical use cases

Municipal lake rehabilitation, industrial basin cleanout, fish pond maintenance, agricultural settling basin.

Let’s talk

An online meeting based on satellite imagery and site photos. 30 minutes, followed by a concrete proposal — or an honest answer if we cannot help in this case.
